Qigong & Tea

What People Are Saying

I've been surprised and delighted by the depth of satisfaction I get practicing Qigong in a group. It has helped me move through the world with a different, more intentional, connection to my environment and the bodies around me. I continue to feel a sense of community and connection to others during my solo practice, which I love.

Seasonal Tea & Qigong: Fall Equinox

Seasonal Tea & Qigong: Fall Equinox @ The Bridge, Kingston

What happens when we allow our consciousness to merge with the environment through the ancient practice of Gong Fu Cha (Skillfully Brewed Tea)? This gathering weaves together philosophical inquiry and moving meditation, creating space for both inner exploration and shared discovery.
Drawing on over ten years of steeping, selecting, and sharing Chinese & Taiwanese teas, I invite you into a practice of deep listening—to the tea, to the season, and to the wisdom that emerges when we slow down together. Our conversations may drift from contemplative quiet to jovial and raucous sharing—tea has a way of opening hearts and loosening tongues in the most delightful ways.
How do we align ourselves with autumn's rhythm? We'll explore qigong movements that attune us to seasonal energy as we approach the Equinox. What does it mean to honor the stomach and spleen during this time of gathering and storing? How might we cultivate a free and easy relationship with change as nature demonstrates her own graceful transitions?
We'll gather at The Bridge in Kingston—a beautiful community space nestled in the Rondout, where questions can unfold naturally, laughter can bubble up spontaneously, and insights can steep like tea.
What will you discover when you give yourself permission to simply be present? Come in comfortable clothing that welcomes gentle movement, and bring a journal to capture whatever wants to be remembered.
Please arrive early—we begin this practice together, on time <3

Tendon Changing Marrow Washing

Tendon Changing Marrow Washing: September 2025

Bodhidharma, Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Japanese artist Yoshitoshi, 1887

Thought to be the practice of 6th century Buddhist Monk Da Mo (Boddhidharma) Tendon Changing Marrow Washing is a collection of movements designed for the martial artist and meditator alike.

This method of transforming the tendon and ligamental structure of the body is designed to encourage a strong and flexible frame. This method’s focus is to prepare the practitioner for external strength needed for martial arts.

This 8 week course will introduce you to the framework and methods for applying a new routine for your internal and external fortification. Whether you’re an athlete, avid gardener, martial artist or curious contemplative practitioner, this course is beginner and advanced friendly.

  • Students are encouraged to practice between classes and will have video tutorials to reference

  • Community building is a part of this class. We end the cohort with a celebration dinner at a local restaurant.

  • We will focus on the 12 core movements and investigate them in depth throughout the program. Students will leave with an understanding of not only the movement, but what the movement generates in the body.

What is Muscle Tendon Marrow Washing?

  • Muscle-Tendon Change Exercises: Strengthen tendons, ligaments, bones, and muscles

  • Muscle-Tendon Change Massaging-Patting: Energizes the body and removes blockages from the meridians

  • Marrow Washing: Cleans the marrow and the internal membranes while stimulating the formation of healthy blood

Class Overview:

  • Thursdays September 25-November 13 7:30-8:30am @ Sun Creek Center, Stone Ridge

  • $225 for the program

Tian Gan with Marcus DeGrazia of Internal Arts North

Tian Gan (Heavenly Stem) Nei Gong

Liminal Bodywork is excited to host Marcus DeGrazia for a full day of martial arts practice. If you’ve been interested in a deeper and external application of the arts, this is an amazing opportunity not to be missed!

About Tian Gan (Heavenly Stem) Nei Gong

This set of exercises embodies the quintessential duality that is at the core of Chinese Medicine and Martial Arts.  These exercises simultaneously offer a systematic way to loosen or "wring out" the spine while teaching the fundamental concept of transferring force from the ground up.  This way of producing or accepting force can be applied anywhere in life where one needs to exert one's self.  And in Chinese Medicine, the health of the spine is paramount for good posture and overall vitality.  We will explore these exercises in depth and move with partners to exemplify the "connectedness" that a mature practice of this set of exercises reveals.

Program runs 10-4 with a full lunch provided.

Limited class size

$150 for the day.

The Tian Gan or “Heavenly Stem” is like the trunk of a tree. It is the body's central energetic connection between Heaven & Earth

About the Instructor: Marcus DeGrazia

Marcus DeGrazia is a New York State licensed acupuncturist who has studied Qi Gong, Ba Gua Zhang and Zheng Gu Tui Na intensively since 2006. He is also a classically trained musician with degrees from the University of Michigan. In 1995, shortly after completing his studies in Ann Arbor, Marcus relocated to New York City and formed a collective of musicians that toured the United States, Canada, and Europe extensively. Through years of improvising with musicians and modern dancers, Marcus developed a love for movement, bodywork and martial arts.

In 2006, Marcus began an apprenticeship with Tom Bisio, delving deeply into the Internal Arts, Tui Na, and Chinese Medicine.  In 2009, after completing a degree at Tri-State College of Acupuncture , Marcus joined Tom’s clinic as a practitioner specializing in trauma, Chinese sports medicine, and orthopedic conditions.  Marcus was fortunate to work closely with Mr. Bisio for almost 7 years.

In 2014, Marcus relocated to the Hudson Valley where he practices Chinese medicine and teaches Internal Arts.

Marcus is certified by Internal Arts International (formerly New York Internal Arts) as an instructor for Zheng Gu Tui Na and a Senior Instructor of Ba Gua Zhang.

Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra: For Healthy Personal & Collective Change

The world needs you. But you need you too, right? This Himalayan Yogic Sleep practice offers safety and rest to your nervous system while expanding awareness and orient towards healthy change during this time of chaos.

What does a Yoga Nidra Class Feel like?

Each session has a unique intention to acknowledge and include the suffering of our kin. As we move through the body scan and breathing awareness, this intention becomes an anchor, gently returning to consciousness while your body remains deeply relaxed.

The guided visualization portions might invite you to imagine a more just world or connect with your capacity for transformative action, allowing these images to integrate at a subconscious level. Throughout the practice, you might be guided to notice and release tensions connected to social inequities you've witnessed or experienced, creating space for both personal healing and commitment to collective liberation.

The restorative nature of yoga nidra combined with a justice-focused intention can help replenish emotional reserves for those engaged in social change work, reducing burnout while strengthening internal resolve.

What do I need to bring?

Wear comfortable clothes, bring a journal if you wish. There will be tea & snacks for post class nourishment

What else do I need to know?

Class starts on time. In order for the building to be secured for our class, the exterior door will lock at 6pm. Please arrive 5-10 minutes early to settle in.

Five Animal Qigong

The Five Animals of Hua Tou’s Qigong Practice

Five Animal Qigong (Wuqinxi) was developed by second century Chinese physician Hua Tou. After studying the movements of animals, he applied similar principles to the human body.

Creating movement in the joints, elongating the waist and limbs and general exertion of the body are key components of a healthy and invigorating practice. Two millennia later this system is still being practiced and prescribed for healthy lifestyles.

In this series we will learn Hua Tou’s five movements, breathing patterns and incorporate seasonal meditation. This version of Five Animal Play is within the lineage of Tom Bisio’s Internal Arts International.

$175 for the 6 week series.

let loose the hair and relax the body,
Allow all intent to come to life,
Let things live, do not kill,
Give, do not take,
Reward, do not punish,”
